EMDR & Somatic Therapy Intensives in Rockville, MD

Go Deeper—In a Container Built for You

When Weekly Therapy Feels Too Slow for What You’re Holding

You’ve shown up for yourself before—through journaling, surface talk therapy, meditating, spiritual practices. And yet… your body still guards something. Words alone haven’t shifted it. Your nervous system remains on edge.

An intensive offers a different container: spacious, intentional, and rooted in care. It allows you to move through things that resist being spoken—things held in tension, memory, or shame.

If you’re asking, “Is it too much?” or “Am I ready for this?”—take a breath. You don’t have to fix anything right now. You only need to feel seen. And I’ll walk beside you.

What’s an Intensive, Really

An intensive is not just an extended session. It’s a time- and energy-anchored space for healing that doesn’t get chopped into 50-minute increments. Think 2–4 hours (or multiple sessions) dedicated to deep processing—while pacing, resourcing, and tending to your system are built in.

We’ll co-create the flow based on your needs. That may include:

  • Grounding, pendulation, and nervous system checks

  • EMDR resourcing and reprocessing

  • Somatic techniques (breath, movement, body connection)

  • Breaks, integration space, rest, and regulated transitions

You always get to say “pause,” “slow down,” or “I need time.” The point isn’t to push you—it’s to support the unfolding you’ve been waiting for.

Who Benefits Most from an Intensive

  • You might explore this path if:

    • You sense something unresolved living in your body—memories, shame, shame-avoidance, guilt

    • You’ve plateaued in weekly therapy and want more momentum

    • You carry chronic stress or relational wounds that resist surface-level tools

    • You need deeper work but can’t commit to long-term weekly sessions right now

    • You want integration time—not just more processing

An intensive isn’t a shortcut for healing; it’s a potent, container-honoring way to lean into work you already know is yours.

Frequently Asked Questions About EMDR Intensives

  • Traditional weekly therapy often works within 50-minute time constraints, which can limit how deeply we go—especially when trauma lives in the body, not just in words. Intensives offer 2–4 hours of uninterrupted time to process what’s been stuck. They allow us to work at the pace of your nervous system, using somatic tools, EMDR, and regulation strategies to move through layers of healing with more depth and care.

  • Safety is non-negotiable. My approach is always trauma-informed, consent-based, and collaborative. You’ll never be pushed to “relive” trauma or go further than you’re ready for. We build in grounding, pacing, and rest—so your nervous system can stay regulated throughout. You’ll have full choice, voice, and clarity every step of the way.

  • Not at all. Intensives are powerful whether you’re in a season of transition, feeling stuck in talk therapy, or simply want to process at a deeper level. You don’t need to hit a breaking point to deserve care. If your body is holding something you’re ready to release—or you just want more time and space to tend to your healing—an intensive might be right for you.
